Available Now:
Defender 130 "Alpha"

Just back from SEMA where this build was featured in the "Battle of the Builds" contest, this 1991 Defender 130 Double Cab Pickup is available for sale.

Alpha

Starting with an extremely clean and original rare Defender 130 DCPU (Double Cab Pick Up), it was originally built with a 200Tdi engine with manual transmission.  This truck was originally in Europe and then imported by a Defender expert and legend in the industry.  Beautiful, original and capable - it was not an easy decision to completely disassemble and reimagine into the beast it is today!

Work began as the body and tub were removed, completely disassembled and stripped and painted to a modern Defender color Corris Grey.  In this process new modern doors were added, along with a more modern bulkhead and hood (bonnet), commonly referred to as Puma upgrades.  Puma was the last model built of the classic Defenders.

Although the original chassis and suspension were in great condition, we decided to go all in and replace everything with the latest and greatest parts available.  Starting with a new heavy duty version of the Marsland chassis (the best available).  All new suspension, steering and driveline components were added to that chassis.  This includes new Salisbury axle with Quaife ATB differentials, upgraded Ashcroft axle shafts, new heavy duty hubs, Ashcroft HD transfer case and 4 wheel BIG disc brakes with AP brakes kits.  Finally, Kahn wheels and BFG KO2 tires to finish it out.

The original 97hp diesel engine was changed out for a new crate LS3 engine (Corvette) with 425 hp.  This is mated to a GM automatic transmission.  This package also includes all modern accessories including A/C compressor, start, alternator, brake booster and belt/pulley system - all designed specifically for a modern Defender build.

The Body was completely disassembled.  The doors and bulkhead were upgraded with the latest model assemblies.  All pieces were individually prepped and painted, then reassembled.  All new hardware was used and upgraded to stainless steel.  The interior was lined with Dynamat sound dampening material

For comfort's sake, the original interior was removed and replaced with a modern luxury interior to include a Puma style dash, leather Corbeau and Exmoor seats, the interior was wrapped in sound deadening DynaMat and then new carpet and Alcantara black headliner installed.

The final result is a modernized, upgraded and more reliable version of the iconic Land Rover Defender.  The 130 is the rarest of the rare models.  Most were built under contract for utility companies, military or commercial purposes.  This vehicle was privately owned and served it's owner as he explored Europe and specifically the Netherlands.

With a modern GM drivetrain for reliability and familiarity for service, new wire harnesses and upgraded leather interior, this truck is ready for many more adventures.
